Thank You Choir!

Hey all!

Just wanna say a big THANK YOU for each and everyone of you. I really enjoyed myself on Open House. It was really great that we could show our love of music and singing to many of those who were there and those who came. We may not know it, but our love has perhaps touched the heart of someone out there. Whether many people have set their hearts on coming to HC or not, if we have done that, then we had already won them ten thousand times over. haha also make other cca jealous wor!(:

Thanks so much for your enthusiam and for sustaining till the end, even though it got a little sian at the end. haha.

Prior to Open House, i was really encouraged by how many of you had put in time and effort into the section projects, or just chipping in whereever, whenever, however you can. thanks for painting the sandwich boards. thanks for doing the photo collage. thanks for staying till late to tie up the banners. thanks for decorating the souvenir pegs. thanks for getting the sweets. thanks for making the bookmarks. thanks for helping out at the booth. thanks for everything! really. really appreciate everything you guys have done, whether you were the first to bring the trohpies down to the booth that day or tied the ribbon to the last bookmark.

Yep, there was definitely something there during Open House. and that something will keep us going on till the end, altogether.

There will be many events and project coming up. i hope that all of us will be able to contribute like how we did in OH, or even better. of course, not forgetting to have fun and love each other with all our hearts at the same time.

Because we are more than just the music. We are HC Choir.

Yep, section projects will be a really great time for you all to bond with your sections, so try to get your hands in as much as possible. Our job is to promote the choir, so we gotta let people see, hear, feel, smell and taste our love in choir yaw! lets the music and soul go into every bit of effort put into open house. let's do it for the school, for the choir, for one another!(:

Hey all!

Hope you all are doing okay for promos. you all can do it!! it will soon be over soon! Alas, our work is not done after the exams...

Here are a few issues that we have to settle as soon as the promos end:

• OPEN HOUSE

It will be one heck of day to attract the new kids to our sch and into the choir as well! must be super high that day ah! we will need to set up a booth and allocate slots to perform. we need to make souvenirs as well. the presidents will give us more details when we meet again.

• CHOIR BANNER

This could be something optional, because i am not sure if we have time to paint this in time for open house. If you would like to design the banner, just pass jean the design!

• CHOIR T-SHIRT

I'm really sorry about this, we should have done this a long time ago. The designing of the choir tee will be open to anyone in the choir. if you have a design for the shirt, just pass it to jean! If we have a great design soon enough, we might make it for open house.

• GRADUATION DAY

more will be briefed by the presidents. Please read the previous blog entry!

• CHALET

the most popular dates for chalet is from the 5th-7th of December (Thursday to Saturday). Less of us will be able to make it in the following weelk (10th-14th), though we can still have chalet on that week.

The choir will be singing with piano accompaniment. We are dividing the choir into two teams. One team will sing in the auditorium while the other will sing in the hall.

The Singapore Youth Festival 2007 closes with the Choral Presentation, a showcase of five outstanding choirs. The choirs are from Raffles Girls’ School. Tanjong Katong Secondary School, Victoria Secondary School, Anglo-Chinese Junior College and National Junior College. Joining the Choral Presentation this year are the Good Hope School choir from Hong Kong and the Temasek Secondary School A cappella ensemble, winner of the National A cappella Competition 2006.

OVERSEAS TRIP 2008:

1st priority: Choir Olympics in Austria
9th-13th July OR 14th-19th July
Cost: approximately $3000 (max)

All choir practices resumes mon-wed-fri schedules. SLs will keep you guys updated, please hang on to your communication devices!

We'll need to borrow blazers from the council by the 13th of June(blazers only max loan of 3 days). Everyone has to be there in person because all blazers are altered.. so, must go try. Hope that all you can cooperate with SL's when they're coordinating this.

Hey J1s!

Your new Treasurer here! I'm sure all of you have heard from your SLs about the $25 you'll need to bring to pay for the stuff and all (if you haven't, now you know! Bring it on the practice we're having before farewell). Well, in case all of you are wondering why you're paying so much for the farewell, here's a breakdown for all of you.

Firstly, $15 of the $25 goes into the payment for the mugs that we're giving to the seniors as a batch! Haha, the reason why it's $15 per j1 is because all the mugs are printed individually with the senior's name on their mug, and also because we have more seniors than juniors!

The remaining $10 goes into what is called the Batch Fund which is the unofficial fund that will be used for various unofficial events and birthday gifts! So this fund will be used to buy the birthday cards, and also to finance the other events like choir chalet! Part of this will also be used for the planning of the farewell, and I hope to have your understanding in this money-collecting matter =).

Of course, apart from this unofficial batch fund, we have the official choir fund! Currently, the choir fund has a healthy sum of money retained from last year, but in order to maintain it, I will also be collecting $5 from all of you in Week 2 of Term 3. This fund will be used for the printing of scores, and official events like Openhouse and CCA exhibition. This will be collected by your SLs in Week 2, and I hope all of you will cooperate with them. =)

Hopefully, this will not be too much for all of you, and do inform me if you think that there may be any problems with regards to the money being collected. Thank you all very much for being such great people, and let's all work towards being a cohesive excellent choir! =D
